On 20 September 2025, members of the Armenian British Business Chamber (ABBC) came together for a unique retreat at the FPWC Wildlife Rescue Centre in Urtsadzor—an experience that blended nature, conservation, and community connection.

Event Highlights

The programme offered participants the opportunity to explore FPWC’s impactful work in wildlife protection and environmental sustainability.
Members enjoyed a guided visit to the centre’s bear rescue facilities, learning about ongoing rehabilitation efforts and the long-term mission to safeguard Armenia’s native species. The tour continued with a visit to FPWC’s greenhouses, showcasing environmentally responsible initiatives and the organisation’s commitment to habitat restoration.

ABBC members also participated in a tree-planting activity—an engaging hands-on effort that underscored the importance of conservation and collective responsibility.

The retreat concluded with a networking dinner set in the peaceful surroundings of Urtsadzor, providing an ideal environment for meaningful conversations, relationship-building, and reflection on the day’s experiences.

Location

The Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR), which encompasses around 30,000 hectares, is the first privately  protected area in the South Caucasus and has been managed by Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife & Cultural Assets (FPWC) since 2011. Being the habitat of a number of southern Caucasian species, the CWR territory is an area of crucial importance buffering Khosrov Forest State Reserve (IUCN Ia category). The refuge is a safe haven for many rare species, such as Brown bears, Bezoar goats, Armenian Vipers, Bearded Vultures and endangered Caucasian leopard.
