StarPower Game!
October 19th, 2010
The working day was supposed to start as usual, yet it turned to be
unexpectedly enjoying and motivating. ABBC invited Liana Ohanyan for implementing the StarPower Game for the Chamber members. 2-3 staff people from 6 member companies (Global Bridge Educational centre, EmmAroma, Tower International Consultants, GPartners law firm, Britannia Coatings and Chemicals, Deem Communications and the Chamber staff itself) took part in the simulation game, which was intended to be stressed on management, teamwork and self-development.
Since its creation, the “StarPower” has been one of the most popular simulation games used in organizations for developing organizational skills and work efficiency. It is a real time, face to face, non-computer based simulation of an organization, or a company in which people are given unlimited power to make and change the rules of the simulation. The most unique feature of “StarPower” is the strength of the impression it makes on the participants, and the end result is never predictable. It works also well for analyzing and revealing the participants’ emotional and behavioral changes and abilities to manage themselves and handle different situations facing at work. This is why we were curious to learn and try it within ABBC.
What does it specifically give to us as an end result? Lots of team spirit,
good time and mutual understanding with respect to different characters and natures, laughter, communication skills and personal new discoveries about each others’ role and specifics in a teamwork. The game has been successfully practiced in Armenian society too for different organizational and business audiences.
Sona Martirosyan (Global Bridge Educational Consultant): “The simulation game was indeed an interesting activity which helped me observe some of my features I have never focused on. I am convinced that every employer has to arrange this activity for his/her staff to measure the effectiveness of their performance.
